01 EUROPE – Days Of Rock'N'Roll
No, it's not The Final Countdown for the hard-rock Swedes yet (see what we did there?). [You're fired... Ed]. Quite the contrary, if this galloping, jubilant new number is anything to go by. These are, indeed, the days of rock'n'roll.
Taken from: War Of Kings

02 UFO – Devil's In The Details
Still going strong after over 45 years in the riff-making business, Phil Mogg and co deliver handsomely with this magnificent piece of rock meat. Straight in with face-melting licks, a singalong chorus and the immortal line, 'Come here, my skonky toady.'
Taken from: A Conspiracy Of Stars

03 WE ARE HARLOT – Never Turn Back
Vocalist Danny Worsnop used to shout a lot with metalcore kids Asking Alexandria. These days he sings a little more soulfully, via We Are Harlot's rip-roaring, modernised Van Halen-meets-Aerosmith rock'n'roll, as demonstrated to hearty effect here.
Taken from: We Are Harlot

04 TOTO – Burn
We didn't hear a peep out of them, album-wise, for the best part of a decade. Clearly it did the band no harm, though, as their new studio album is ace. On Burn, Toto channel their pensive side, with moody keyboards and a slow-motion fist-pump-inducing chorus.
Taken from: XIV

05 WATTS – The Mess Is The Makeup
Time for a no-messin' head-shaker from New England. Part early Rolling Stones, part dirty 70s glam rock, this is the stuff of pick-me-up dreams. Play it loudly when you're feeling a bit shit. It'll sort you out.
Taken from: Flash Of White Light

06 BLACK STAR RIDERS – Charlie I Gotta Go
From the Thin Lizzy genesis grows groovy, swaggering rock'n'roll, as Scott Gorham and co demonstrate on this track from the second Black Star Riders album. Soloing is chic, hooks are elegantly fuzzed... Charlie, l gotta go play this one again!
Taken from: The Killer Instinct

07 THE ROCKIT KING – Ours To Know
The Rockit King were a pleasant new discovery at Classic Rock Towers this month. An innocuous-looking envelope arrived from their native Michigan, and the album inside delighted all who heard it. The secret? Fantastic, refreshing rock tunes, crammed with character.
Taken from: Truth Will Set You Free

08 JESSE MALIN – Addicted
Any compilation is going to be improved by Jesse Malin whipping up a shuffle-rock number on a battered old acoustic. Well, we're not sure how battered Malin's axe was, but it sure captures that organic, road-worn sound he does so beautifully.
Taken from: New York Before The War

09 VON HERTZEN BROTHERS – You Don't Know My Name
Their final vestiges of prog have largely gone, to be replaced with the kind of thrust to propel the Finnish crew into the hard rock league. Not that they've lost their melodic touch, mind you - this marries tuneful Charisma with fast and furious riffery.
Taken from: New Day Rising

10 THE ANSWER – Long Live The Renegades
Killer Rainbow-meets-Free guitar? Check. Scorching, soulful, classic rockvocals? Check. Smouldering bass groove? Check. The Answer leave no box unticked on their new album opener. Long live the Irish dudes, and all who sail in them.
Taken from: Raise A Little Hell

11 RAZER – Blood For Blood
Trouble's a-brewing in Phoenix. Though only if you mean the 8Os hard-rock-shaped, turbo-charged type of trouble, as purveyed here. A menacing, slightly grungy underlayer is swiftly kicked up the arse by strident, fretboard-pimping oomph - and it's proper lush.
Taken from: Razer

12 CHASE THE ACE – Made Out Of Ice
Nope, not the instrumental AC/DC track. Nor the alternative name for card game Old Maid. It's Israel's most smokin' rock export, all strutting Mötley Crüe-meets-Guns N' Roses panache, with a bit of Zakk Wylde-esque guitar shriek for good measure.
Taken from: Are You Ready

13 NIGHTWISH – Yours Is An Empty Hope
We thought about including the closer from the Symphonie metallers' new record (mainly because it features Richard Dawkins, which is clearly mental but brilliant). It is, however, 24 minutes long. So we decided this deliciously heavy, theatrical choice would make a more succinct introduction.
Taken from: Endless Forms Most Beautiful

14 THE SENTON BOMBS – Lights Over Phoenix
A lovely, sunny, Californian beach-evoking slice of poppy, punky rock. From, erm, Blackpool. But relax, it works. Their favourite bands include Rancid, Monster Magnet and Screaming Trees, which should give you an idea of the many-headed treat you're dealing with here.
Taken from: Lights Over Phoenix (single)

15 BUCK & EVANS – Ain't No Moonlight
Because everyone knows there ain't no blues without no moonlight. Buck & Evans certainly know - you can practically see the luminous allure oozing out of this gorgeous soul-blues smoothie, featuring the classy guitar musings of Chris Buck.
Taken from: Ain't No Moonlight (Live At Rockfield Studios)

Somit gibt es also häufig angebliche Treffer.
