Infos

The Wild Swans were one of the key bands in the Liverpool Scene that also produced Echo & The Bunnymen and The Teardrop Explodes. Incandescent is a double CD collection of their material from 1980 to 1986 - a period in which they only released the one single but recorded 3 BBC radio sessions and demoed many other songs, all of which are included.

......................................................................

The first 2 tracks - The Revolutionary Spirit & God Forbid - were the band's first release (produced by Pete De Freitas of Echo & The Bunnymen fame who also played drums). It was on the Zoo label and is considered by legendary label boss Bill Drummond to be the best single he released.

Tracks 3 to 6 were recorded as a session for the Kid Jensen show on BBC Radio 1 and were broadcast on March 23rd 1982.
The band comprised:-
Paul Simpson - vocals, guitar
Jeremy Kelly - guitar
Gerard Quinn - keyboards
Alan Wills - drums
Phil Lucking - bass

Tracks 7, 8 & 9 were recorded as a session for the John Peel show (also on Radio 1) on May 1st 1982 and were broadcast on May 13th. They were subsequently released as the first 'Peel Sessions' mini album in 1986.
Same line-up except Baz Hughes replaced Phil Lucking.

* The unreleased US stereo versions of Revolutionary Spirit and God Forbid were thought to have been lost (the original version of Revolutionary Spirit is in mono) and have just been discovered on an unmarked acetate. Only about 5 people have heard these before!

Playing time 44 minutes approx.

BONUS CD

Tracks 1 to 4 were recorded as a session for the Janice Long show on BBC Radio 1 and were broadcast on Oct 8th 1986. Northern England and Now And Forever appear (in completely different versions) on Bringing Home The Ashes, the first Sire album. Crowning Glory mutated into a song called Whirlpool Heart (also on Bringing Home The Ashes and also significantly different). Holy Spear has never been released.
Same line up as as the Kid Jensen session except Joe Fearon replaced Phil Lucking.

Broken Home is a demo from just before they signed to Sire and Infidel is an early demo.

Tracks 7 to 12 were recorded live in December 1981 (the last night of the UK tour supporting Echo & The Bunnymen).
The version of Now You're Perfect is much slower than the later one on CD1 and Fruits Of The Earth is an early version of Flowers Of England.
Phil Lucking played bass and Joe McKechnie played drums (see picture).

Playing time 48 minutes approx.

......................................................................

Apart from the original versions of The Revolutionary Spirit and God Forbid and the 3 John Peel Session tracks none of these recordings have been released before.

PLEASE NOTE
Wherever possible we’ve gone to the original tapes for mastering but in some cases these were simply not available. We felt that you’d want to hear this amazing material and every care has been taken over restoring it to the highest possible sound quality.

Somit gibt es also häufig angebliche Treffer.
