“This is ‘The Devils Music Volume 4′. Which means you should know the drill by now. Fittingly enough, there are four things we aim to bring you with ‘The Devils Music…’
Number one: a striking cover image courtesy of the ever-marvellous Doralba Picerno. The one that adorns this particular CD features Kerrang! Awards 2001 hostess Valeria and a snake called Brian. You are not advised to try and re-create it at home.
Number two: a track by a band everybody not only wants to hear, but has to hear. That’ll be Echobrain, the trio which re-launches the post-Metallica Jason Newsted.
Number three: a clutch of bands returning to action in fine, preferably better than ever form. Hello, then, to ‘A’, Pitchshifter and timeless So-Cal punk veterans Bad Religion.
And number four: a bunch of new stuff that we fully expect to tear your heads off over the coming months. Take a bow, The Distillers, December and 36 Crazyfists.
I could add a fifth – that you’ll find a ridiculously large number of high-quality songs on offer that won’t cost you a bean. But that’s a given. And a sixth – that it’ll do the business when it comes to annoying the neighbours. But that’s down to you and your volume control.
