01: ALTAR OF PLAGUES "God Alone" - taken from the album "Teethed Glory and Injury" | Candlelight
The blackened trio have created a soundtrack to losing your sanity and slitting the throat of your nemesis, before feasting on their tonsils for tea. Brutal brilliance.

02: THE OCEAN "Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish In Dreams" - taken from the album "Pelagial" | Metal Blade
After undergoing some staggering line up changes in their career, The Ocean have managed to nail it with their post-metal sound, packed with some technical-as-hell fretwork.

03: GAMA BOMB "Terrorscope" - taken from the album "The Terror Tapes" | AFM
The Irish thrashers return with this triumph. Think sped-up Maiden with hilarious lyrics to boot. The party thrash piss-up anthem of 2013.

04: SATAN "Siege Of Mentality" - taken from the album "Life Sentence " | Listenable
Despite the band name and sinister sounding title, the Geordie veterans have created a lovely jolly little track that's pleasant to listen to. A ray of sunshine on your otherwise depressing iPod.

05: SPIRITUAL BEGGARS "Turn The Tide" - taken from the album "Earth Blues" | InsideOut
Swedes never fail to make damn sexy music, and this full bodied little number is no exception. A rifftastic and rhythmic delight.

06: AMORPHIS "Hopeless Days" - taken from the album "Circle" | Nuclear Blast
This powerful, enthusiastic, knockout of a track proves that 23 years on, Amorphis have still most definitely got it.

07: NERGARD "Hell On Earth" - taken from the album "Memorial For A Wish" | BattleGod
Nergard has taken melodic power metal and given it a big old heavy boost with 'Hell On Earth'. Melodic as hell itself and with plenty of bite to it. Roar.

08: ACOLYTE "Charybdis" - taken from the album "Alta" | Mordgrimm
Hailing from the UK's grim north and influenced by the mighty Enslaved, this black metal quintet have created quite the piece of abysmal, crushing misery here.

09: ORDER OF ORIAS "Bleak One" - taken from the album "Inverse" | World Terror Committee
Blasphemous black metallers Order Of Orias, despite dwelling in sunny Melbourne, are the obvious masters of dark and depressing sounds. Warning: contains guitars that will melt your face off.

10: HYBRID NIGHTMARES "Emperor" - taken from the EP "Hybrid Nightmares" | self-released
Keeping with this month's Australian Black Metal theme (Melbourne is the new Bergen), Hybrid Nightmares offer a tasty combo of relentless black metal and epic, infectious power-esque grooves.

11: DENOUNCEMENT PYRE "Circle Of Serpents" - taken from the album "Almighty Arcanum" | Hell's Headbangers
Topping off our trio of Melbourne Black Metal are Denouncement Pyre. With Daath influences and a truly menacing sound, 2013 could spell big things for this lot.

12: KADAVAR "Doomsday Machine" - taken from the album "Abra Kadavar" | Nuclear Blast
With riffs that would make Iommi's ears prick up, and earning support slots for Saint Vitus and Electric Wizard, Kadavar are one of the strongest psychedelic acts to emerge in a long while.

13: ANCIIENTS "Faith And Hope" - taken from the album "Heart Of Oak" | Season Of Mist
Only a band whose influences range from Cannibal Corpse to the Allman Brothers could produce a sound as eclectic and weighty as Anciients. Listen at your own risk!

14: DEATH BY KI "The Right Of Might" - taken from the EP "The Right Of Might" | self-released
Influenced by the cream of the metalcore crop such as Shadows Fall, this UK quartet have already earned their stripes supporting fellow fine Brit exports Gallows.

15: GUTLOCKER "Repression" - taken from the EP "Repression" | Mummy Bear Productions
Ever had one of those days where you feel like torturing innocent citizens in your basement, but don't have the right soundtrack to do so? Call Gutlocker and their band of gnarly noise to the rescue!

16: PSYCHOPATHIC DAZE "Ride This Bullet Home" - taken from the EP "Ride This Bullet Home" | self-released
Hurtling towards you at 100mph from the Windy City of Chicago, Psychopathic Daze look set to carry on obliterating the coming year with their aggressively technical sound.

Somit gibt es also häufig angebliche Treffer.
