Anthology Box 1966-70 album by Quicksilver Messenger Service was released Sep 13, 2011 on the Cleopatra label. At their best, Quicksilver Messenger Service sounded like a blend of early Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and the Grateful Dead, but almost constant personnel changes kept them from truly evolving into what they could have been. Anthology Box 1966-70 songs This set collects outtakes from a 1967 studio session, live tracks from a pair of concerts at the Fillmore in 1966 and 1967, live tracks from a concert at the Fillmore East in 1968, live tracks from a concert at Winterland in 1970, and tracks from a performance at the Old Mill Tavern, also from 1970. Anthology Box 1966-70 album There's also a DVD featuring video footage from various shows the group played between 1967 and 1973. Anthology Box 1966-70 CD music The sound is decent, and there are many times when the band rises to the occasion, but this is definitely a set for serious fans and collectors only. ~ Steve Leggett.
