02 LUNATIC SOUL - Anymore Riverside vocalist/bassist Mariusz Duda's solo material adds a breath of fresh air to his personal discography, and such creative freedom helps illuminate his new project. Anymore is ominous, sorrowful and sexy, with one of the best guitar motifs you'll hear this year.

03 KOYO - Now I Understand The psych pop turned prog flavours of this Leeds quintet have been turning a lot of heads. Their dynamic, creative music takes synths from Muse and basslines from Kasabian, haunting them with melancholy Radiohead vocal melodies. The result is a dazzlingly different sound.

04 GALAHAD - Weightless Brit proggers Galahad have come a long way since their inception in 1985, and new song Weightless, an emotion-draped track centred around an overcast piano sound and decorative strings, prove that. It's a song with real gravity.

05 JOUIS - Universe Goggles The first impressions of Universe Goggles make you think of Dave Brubeck playing Green Onions, but this jazz-lavished track provides much more than that. Named after the French word for orgasm, the band deliver a serene yet talent-packed track.

06 CIRCU5 - The Chosen One - Baptism And Transfiguration British multi-instrumentalist SteveTilling has, with CIRCU5 (and lots of guest musicians), forged a new project that tackles the 'nature versus nurture' debate - the record's Protagonist is raised a psychopath, and it's a story well worth exploring.

07 AISLES - CH-7 Chilean prog rock troupe Aisles have fans in Marillion and Focus, and they are continuing the lineage and legacy of both of those bands. CH-7 is weird and disfigured, but beneath the jarring, unnerving note choices and jolting beats is a secret beauty.

08 4:44 - Blood Red Moon 4:44's new album Cardinal is a bright collage of genres and colours, including everything from dancing alt-rock to lashings of funky rhythms and new wave sonics. Blood Red Moon is a vibrant example of this band at their very best.
