MoS 2nd May 2010:
"You voted in your thousands, and now at last the results are out . . . here are your top 12 favourite tracks by music legend Phil Collins.
And today you get the chance to hear them all together on a brilliant exclusive FREE CD, which you can get only inside The Mail on Sunday.
With worldwide hits such as In The Air Tonight, You Can’t Hurry Love and One More Night, this CD is a must for Phil Collins fans and anyone who likes great music.
The CD is the result of an unprecedented collaboration between Phil, The Mail on Sunday and its readers.
Last month we asked Phil to pick 25 of his favourite songs from his huge back catalogue and then gave you the opportunity to vote for your top 12 tracks from his selection to be featured on our CD.
This revolutionary concept has never been seen in a newspaper before, and thousands of you decided to take part in this amazing musical first.
His last studio album was released eight years ago – which makes this collection, called A Little Bit of Something for the Weekend, all the more special.

In The Air Tonight has become a cult song for the younger generation after it appeared in an advert for Dairy Milk chocolate with a gorilla playing the famous drum section.

It also featured in the hit comedy, The Hangover, with former boxer Mike Tyson hijacking the vocals.
Phil said: ‘The greatest surprise for me is how some of my songs have had this amazing afterlife. In The Air Tonight just won’t lie down.

‘When the chocolate company first rang up and asked if I’d have any objections about a gorilla playing my drum parts, my attitude was, “If you can make that idea work, then good luck to you.”

‘Then it goes on to become one of the most popular ads of all time.’

The CD has something for all our readers.
Phil has always had a phenomenal mass-market appeal but in recent years he has also been lauded by the rap/hip-hop community and his die-hard fans now include Ice-T, Lil’ Kim and Pharrell Williams.

Phil joined rock band Genesis as a drummer in 1970 and took over as frontman in 1975.

Since then he has gone on to win seven Grammys, two Golden Globes and an Oscar.

His reputation as the hardest-working man in the music business was cemented with 1985’s Live Aid when he performed in London and Philadelphia on the same day.

Recently, however, he says he has found peace with himself and prefers to spend time with his family.

He said: ‘I used to work non-stop because I couldn’t believe my luck that I was able to do all these things that I loved.

‘Then I reached the point where I no longer felt the need to go zooming around the world and attend the opening of an envelope. Basically I stopped.

‘I’ve got a nine-year-old and a five-year-old. I take them to football. I like to take them to school and pick them up. That’s my life now.’"

Somit gibt es also häufig angebliche Treffer.
