"More stars than there are in heaven" – that's how legendary film studio MGM described their roster, back in the Golden Age of Hollywood. But even that heyday of Clark Gable, Jean Harlow et al would seem like a string of bargain basement fairy lights compared to the cadre of high-octane talent assembled for this here complimentary compact-disk of cool-ass tunes. Across its hour or so of impeccable entertainment, AOR All Stars showcases some of the genre's most established legends; vivacious vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, re-formed enfants terrible The Babys, their ex-frontman John Waite, AOR perennials Starship and those godly guys from Stryper. We've also found space to show off some supernovas of the future along the way, bands who’ll be well-established in the rock firmament in the blink of an eye. So fish out your telescope, crank up your stereo and get ready to do some star-gazing…

01 JOE LYNN TURNER & COME TASTE THE BAND – Tied Down Former Rainbow man and legendary Yngwie collaborator Joe Lynn Turner touches base with his brief but memorable tenure as singer for Deep Purple on his latest project, a collaboration with esteemed Norwegian Purple tribute group Come Taste The Band. First single from their forthcoming new album, Tied Down is a new song, but effortlessly taps into the exultant, funky and raw vibe of Mark IV Deep Purple.

02 THE BABYS – Not Ready To Say Goodbye Reunited a full 33 years after they first dissolved, The Babys return with a long-awaited new album that might be missing the vocals of former frontman John Waite, but certainly doesn't want for their trademark cocktail of charming tunefulness and hard-rockin' edge, New vocalist/bassist John Bisaha is in fine voice on Not Ready To Say Goodbye, while guitarist Wally Stocker riffs like he never stopped.
Taken from: The Babys' forthcoming new album

03 FAITH CIRCUS – Inside The Circus A blast of true AOR glory from the West Coast... of Norway, that is. Rising like a phoenix from the ashes of two rival groups, the members of Faith Circus have wisely put aside any lingering bitterness between their constituent members to pool their communal talents and deliver a set of swaggering, skyscraper-tall rock songs that will lend an intoxicating drama to your day.

04 EVE TO ADAM – Crime Scene Named for the biblical characters who ate the forbidden fruit, Eve To Adam hail from the Big Apple, New York, and have one goal in mind; to reignite rock. They flick their Zippo lighters like MoFos all across their new album, Locked & Loaded and you'll get one hell of a kick when every one of their paraffin-soaked anthems catches fire. Original sin seems to be their thing, and in Eve To Adam's hands it's quite a thrill.

05 STARSHIP FEATURING MICKEY THOMAS – It's Not The Same As Love Mickey Thomas built this city, built this city on rock and roll, and he's not about to shake those foundations any moment soon. A highlight from the latest album by his revivified Starship, lt’s Not The Same As Love finds Thomas firing on all thrusters, and aiming his racket-making rock rocket straight at the heart. It's one small step for Thomas, but one giant leap for AOR fans!

06 STONE DIAMOND – Flavor Of Tears Das AOR is clearly in wunderbar health, as the diesel-huffing rock'n'roll of German/US trio Stone Diamond proves. Delivering 24 carat riffs with a weighty swagger, this mysterious combo - numbering Cy on vocals and bass, Josh on vocals and guitar and the enigmatically monikered The Tongue thumping the tubs - have the potential to be stars of the future.

07 STRYPER – The One The Orange County rockers' new testament continues apace, their latest disk - the first instalment of a multi-album deal with Frontiers - finding them on fiercely revitalised form. With all of their original line-up still intact, you might expect Stryper to just churn out more of the same old same old. But No More Hell To Pay Updates their sound with a lean and heavy edge that'll please all the air-riffers out there. Enjoy!

08 NEVER TRUST – Fade Away Hailing from the beautiful city of Milan in Italy, this female-fronted quartet relocated to the birthplace of AOR itself, America, to record and mix their debut album Morning Light. The group must have picked up a little magic from their surroundings, as this 11-track set is awash in chorus-swamped, melody-slaked anthemitude. Fade Away is just one gem from this dazzling tiara of tunes – savour it!
Taken from: Morning Light on Cargo

09 RED JESTER – Nasty Rightfully proud of their Midlands roots, Red Jester tell us they hail from "Sheffield's furnaces and Nottingham's forests", A quartet who deftly adulterate their heavy rock leanings with a speedy spurt of punk-rock vigour, they maintain a keen balance between their muscular attack and their expert use of melody. For evidence, catch them live, or search them out on www.facebook.com/redjesteruk
Taken from: self-titled, self-released debut album

10 SEVENTH KEY – Time And Time Again Seventh Key have extensive 'previous' within the realm of AOR, possessing Mike Slamer of City Boy and Billy Greer of Kansas at the helm. The pair previously collaborated as members of Streets, and Seventh Key's latest album, I Will Survive, finds the fire that's fuelled this pair for several decades thus far entirely undimmed. Given the consistent quality of their output, Time And Time Again might be their anthem.
Taken from: I Will Survive on Frontiers

11 BLUE COW KENT – Ready To Bite One of the odder names to surface in the AOR firmament, Blue Cow Kent don't hail from the Medway but from Sweden, where their classic rock is already winning them a loyal following. Ready To Bite closes out the group's debut EP; their first album, Phantom Cathedral, is set to drop early next year, and word has it that this debut grand opus is a concept album. Cool!

12 HIGH HEELS – Way Of Life The Swiss, as Harry Lime in the classic movie The Third Man had it, gave the world the cuckoo clock (along with delicious chocolate and cheese with holes in it). Were here live today (and, indeed, not a fictional character) perhaps Lime would have added High Heels to that list. No, not the painful footwear - this sleazy'n'easy heavy rock group possessing an admirable set of killer tunes. This here is one of their finest.
Taken from: High Heels on CD Baby

13 DOWN & DIRTY – Everything's Shakin' From the does-what-it-says-on-the-tin school of band names, these Chicago bad boys deliver a deep-pan platter of tunage that'll knock the windy city out of your lungs. LA, Majyk, Ryan 9 Volt and Joey The Kidd are our hosts for just under an hour of righteous sleaze and raucous rock’n’roll – but if you’re not sure this ride's for you, Everything’s Shakin’ is an infectious sample slice that’ll let you know where they're at.
Taken from: Down To The Wire on CD Baby

14 BIG TIME – Julia Based in Stockholm, this big-haired, big-tuned quartet are one big hit away from breaking into the big time. Big deal, you say? Very big of you. But play this big-hearted blast on the biggest stereo you can get your hands on, and you’ll see why we're so damned excited and making such a big noise about Big Time. We don't 'big-up' just anyone, you know. They're unsigned right now - don't expect them to stay that way.
Taken from: Big Time EP on Soundcloud

15 JOHN WAITE – Better Of Gone [Live] Though he's given them his blessing to carry on, John Waite's old band The Babys still couldn’t entice the singer from the successful solo career he's pursued since their split in 1980. The reason why is clear if you cock an ear to his latest release. Live All Access, which captures the Waitester in concert, essaying eight of his finest tunes with his No Brakes band in Philadelphia and New Hampshire. Top stuff.

Somit gibt es also häufig angebliche Treffer.
