Summer's here (almost), and we have a spit-roast of sizzling new tunes to celebrate, from returning legends to hot 'n' hungry youths.

01 DUFF McKAGAN - How To Be A Man
Duff McKagan stepped into the studio recently with none other than his old Guns N' Roses sparring partner, Izzy Stradlin, and came up with this belter of a tune. Exclusively available on CD on our cover disc, this acoustically rooted foot-stomper also features Alice In Chains' Jerry Cantrell and Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga.
From How To Be A Man

02 THE DEAD DAISIES - Mexico
Another sort of offshoot from the GN'R world (Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed's project), with help from ex-Mötley Crüe, Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy players, among others. And this swaggering album opener is ace.
From Revolución

03 ASH - Shutdown
Ah Ash, those eternally teenage darlings of Britrock. Thankfully as adults they're still very adept at producing adorable, jangled-together slabs of pop rock. Be warned: this one is very addictive.
From Kablammo!

04 ART OF ANARCHY - Til The Dust Is Gone
Scott Weiland has only just released his album with the Wildabouts, but he's back on the airwaves, having lent guest vocals to this new hard rock supergroup led by Disturbed's John Moyer and Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal (another with some GN'R DNA).
From Art Of Anarchy

05 VANILLA FUDGE - I Can See For Miles
Time to party like it's 1967, with the Fudge's glammed-up, psychedelic version of The Who's classic, replacing choppy guitar with organ swirls and big soul harmonies.
From Spirit Of '67

06 BANDITOS - Still Sober (After All These Beers)
This really does scream 'summer'. The Nashville-based Banditos deal in sweet, rootsy Americana, typified by this cheerily jangly number. Part southern soul, part CCR-esque rock'n'roll and lots of boogied-up blues.
From Banditos

07 HARDCORE SUPERSTAR - Don't Mean Shit
Turbo-charged, 80s-shrieking melodic rock from hairiest Sweden, taken from 10th album HCSS. Various things 'don't mean shit' to Hardcore Superstar, according to Don't Mean Shit, but hard rock isn't one of them, as evidenced by this driving piece of Scandi jollity.
From HCSS

08 WHISKEY MYERS - Early Morning Shakes
A slow, stomping shuffle opens the case for these young, soulful southern rockers. Think the Cadillac Three, on a more thoughtful whiskey-fuelled bender. Remember how cool Caleb Followill sounded before Kings Of Leon went all stadium-y? Frontman Cody Cannon has something of that about him.
From Early Morning Shakes

09 SONNY LANDRETH - Where They Will
"I thought l'd get back to the simple but powerful blues form," says the slide guitar maestro. Indeed after going reggae, jazz and orchestral for 2012's Elemental Journey, Where They Will is a silky-smooth delight.
From Bound By The Blues

10 RAVEN - Thunder Down Under
Subtlety be damned. NWOBHM legends Raven don't write songs with names like Thunder Down Under to be refined. They do, however, provide heavy, titan-chugging rock of the highest order on this tribute to Bon Scott. Raven we salute you.
From Extermination

11 TURBOWOLF - Rabbits Foot
Our favourite song from the Bristol-based alt. rockers' second LP. Packing a fabulously heavy groove, with lashings of psychedelic voodoo, and a frontman more than a little inspired by Frank Zappa, Rabbits Foot is a sexy, chest-pounding monster.
From Two Hands

12 GWYN ASHTON - For Your Love
Welsh-born, Aussie-based Ashton is one of the most criminally overlooked blues-rock guitarists around. Touring with his own trio, as well as playing with BB King and Peter Green, his sublime chops can now be enjoyed in this swaying, rousing work. Original bluesy class.
From Radiogram

13 MOTHER'S FINEST - Angels
Atlanta's forefathers (and mother) of funk rock return with a sassy, groove-laden bang - not to mention their first recorded work more than a decade. Wannabe funky types take note, this is how you open an album, Part Studio 54, part gnarly rock'n'roll, and we bloody love it.
From Goody 2 Shoes & The Filthy Beasts

14 PRONG - Cortez The Killer
Neil Young may not seem an obvious cover choice for a thrash metal band, but New Yorkers Prong pull it off very convincingly with this woozily atmospheric, moody take on a song from Young's seventh LP, Zuma.
From Songs From The Black Hole

15 POND - Man, It Feels Like Space Again
Closing this month's album is something trippy from the Aussie jammers/Tame Impala offshoot. The joy of Pond is that, for all their mentalness, they always come back to the tune. And in the case of Man, It Feels Like Space Again it's a brilliant one, all Bowie-esque spaciness, neon electro beats and T.Rex quirks.

Somit gibt es also häufig angebliche Treffer.
