GOLD CD! Limited Edition
Digitally Remastered...
Disc 1:
Rehearsals for "The night of the hurricane 2" Studio instrument rental, LA, CA. Jan 22 & 23, 1976
The instruments are nicely recorded in the first five tracks... They have a studio sound. However, the vocals are far too buried... The vocals improve on the remaining tracks, but the music isn't as well represented...
Disc 2:
Bellevue hotel, Clearwater, FL. April 15th 1976
"The Trio Tape" (Stoner-Wyeth-Rivera)
Overall the sound is a little better here than disc one... Mainly because the vocals are higher in the mix... In Idiot Wind, Bob sings "She inherited a million ducks"...
Disc 3:
Dress rehearsals with full Rolling Thunder revue for 1976 tour. Bellevue hotel, Clearwater, FL April 17th 1976
The entire revue has now arrived at Clearwater, and this is the best sound and mix so far... It's arguably the best overall sounding disc in this set... Includes the rarely heard Seven Days...
Disc 4:
1-Studio instrument rental, LA Jan. 23 1976
2 & 3 Shagri- La studios with E Clapton, R Wood 3/30/76
4 - 11 : Bellevue hotel, Clearwater, FL April 1976
12-17 Rehearsals with full Rolling Thunder Revue. Bellevue hotel, Clearwater, FL April 17th 1976
18 Special Rider demo Clearwater, FL April 17th 1976
19-22 Recorded for "Hard Rain" Fort Collins May '76
23-24 TV Special recording from Clearwater, April '76
The fourth disc contains a couple highlights of the set, but some of the worst sound quality vocals as well... The Bellevue tape sound is great for the percussion, but the vocals are barely heard... On the first track, vocals overpower everything... The Shangri-La songs are a fascinating look at friends getting together for a jam... Seven Days is the demo version given to Ron Wood...
Original Master Series proves themselves once again by releasing this powerful set that properly edits together all of the known recorded rehearsals for the Rolling Thunder Revue tour. These were taken directly from the practice session soundboards. Unless you are in a small circle of tape collectors, you will not have heard some of the tracks collected on this four CD set. The enclosed four page booklet tells the story of the events from a direct witness to them, and it mounds flesh onto the bones of rumor. There are some incredible moments here, such as the last ever outing of Sara, and stunning versions of One More Cup of Coffee (1/23 & 4/15). Once again, the packaging is beautifully thought out. Well done - this is a not to be missed chapter of the history of music...
