Depending on your favorite set list, this first set is perhaps the best release of the four new TMR titles. The sound quality is near perfection. The package fonts are clean and the images are very nice, although slightly dark and blurry. While not taken from the Halifax show, the photos are from the same tour. The back cover is still a tad busy, but not so much as to deter one from reading the track numbers easily. It is all topped off with some original Dylan artwork on the tray liner. Some might complain that there is no bonus material, and pleanty of room left on the discs for more, but I don't follow that logic. There are nearly two hours of performance on this set. There is something to be said about an entire show in one package without the clutter of aditional fillers. As for the songs... Positively 4th Street is a nice arrangement that finds most of the anger and sting of the original version replaced with reflectiveness. After nearly a year absence, Moonlight is re-introduced to the set list. It will become a staple on this tour. Bob again plays the comedian when introducing the band with made up resumés. A third of the show is dedicated to the Modern Times album, with six of the ten songs being performed... and the award for top honors goes to.... Nettie Moore. Dylan pours himself into the lyrics and floats and flows into beautiful pastures of memories of another time. Don't worry about the fact that there is no bonus material... This song alone is worth the cost of the package.
