"The tunes on side one ([01]–[06]) are from a concert in San Francisco in the fall of 1946. [...]
All of the cuts on side two ([07]–[12]) were recorded in Los Angeles. The date of the first four is very uncertain; the best we can do is to say they were recorded between 1944 and 1947. We do know, however, that the backup group is a sextet led by the talented guitarist Tiny Grimes. [...]
The last two tunes [...] were recorded about 1952. [...] The accompaniment on these cuts is by an excellent group including pianist Oscar Peterson and guitarist Barney Kessel."
