AVENGER has always been a one-of-a-kind band, the type of multi-facetted act that just defies categorization. To some, they’re the only proper heir to MASTER’S HAMMER, a black-metal assault with a difference that dares treading on uncharted paths while using the natural roughness of its mother tongue Czech to the max. To others, they’re like the perfect pagan band, using the musical aesthetics of melodic black-metal and fusing it with folk and mystical themes. But to most, they’re just… AVENGER. And they’ve never sounded like themselves than on their fifth full-length whose title is self-explanatory: ‘Bohemian Dark Metal’.
Released in 2002 on CD through DEATHGASM RECORDS (usa) but now available on a lavish deluxe vinyl courtesy of DOOMENTIA, this is not only, by far, their best sounding record but also their most epic and defiant work. ‘Bohemian dark Metal’ is the sound of a now firmly-established band determined to hammer down their unique brand of, you’ve guessed it, dark metal and take it to the next level.
